Master overlay layer for video, bitmaps, etc

It would be great if there could be an easy way to have a master overlay layer in Madrix. This way, we could play a video, show a bitmap, or simply keep a logo or watermark always on top and visible while fading between various A & B storage places.

For example, I have 3 panels. I would like to show a video on 1 panel for 1 hour while cross-fading between various storage places (which would be visible on the other panels) without changing/interrupting the video playback. Then when I am finished showing the video, I could simply disable/hide the overlay and the normal content of each storage place would be visible.
